A PLACE FOR HAPPY TAILS
(Photo): Adopt Me - King is a 6-month-old border-collie mix. His owners relinquished him after they could no longer afford to care for him.
(Photo): The shelter has 4 areas for cats, including these "condos" and a cat colony room where they can play.
(Photo): This male guinea pig was surrendered by owners who had to relocate to a home that didn't allow pets.
(Photo): Padme is a 4-year-old rat terrier and Shar-Pei. Padme and her playmate Spirit, a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix, were transferred to the shelter from an Aurora hoarding case. Both females live in a "real-life room," a pet-visitation area where adopters can see the pair interact.
(Photo): Murphy has been in the shelter since March 12. He was abondoned by his family when they were evected. Sheriff's deputies found Murphy while cleaning out the property.
SHELTER: Going From Cager To Caretaker
(Photo): The new shelter nearly triples the size of the old one and has a surgery suite where the public can watch operations.
(Photo): Adoption co-ordinator Barbara Galaviz draws some envious attention as she interacts with Spirit, left, and Padme, who are up for adoption.
