RMJfA- RECALL: PURINA ONE Vibrant Maturity 7+ Dry Cat Food

My local PetsMart pulled ALL of the ONE Vibrant Maturity 7+ Dry Cat Food -- even those that had a different date.  The manager told me to return any I have, no matter the date, and purchase another selection until further notice.

Dear Valued PetSmart Customer,

Nestle Purina has issued a voluntary recall on certain "Best If Used By" Date Codes of Purina ONE Vibrant Maturity 7+ Dry Cat Food. Only the following "Best If Used By" Date Codes and production codes are affected. You can locate the "Best If Used By" Date Codes on the back or the bottom of the bag.

  • May 2012 03341084
  • May 2012 03351084

No other Purina cat or dog products are impacted. These products are being voluntarily recalled because some bags of the product have been found to be contaminated with Salmonella.

In normal, healthy people and pets, salmonella infection can cause flu-like symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea. However, in elderly people or pets, very young children or pets, pregnant woman and people who have compromised immune systems, salmonella can cause serious complications and even be life threatening. If you have concerns about your pet's health, please consult your veterinarian.

Please stop using these products and bring any remaining Purina ONE Vibrant Maturity 7+ Dry Cat Food affected by this recall to your closest PetSmart store for a full refund.
