How Best Friends is helping people provide a loving, forever home for their pets Additional Resources: Best Friends Outreach  Share this e-mail:            Abbie, who runs Colfax Pet Rescue in Miami, a tiny community in Northeastern New Mexico, recently found herself on the wrong end of a double-barreled draft horse kick! After emergency surgery to reconstruct her knee, she's facing a long road to recovery. And she's going crazy with worry because she can't get around to care for nine rescued dogs. So she's reaching out to Best Friends members in New Mexico and Colorado to ask for your help. All of the rescued dogs who urgently need new places to live—either with families or rescue groups—are friendly and affectionate, spayed or neutered, and up-to-date on routine shots. For example, Doogie and Beauty, pictured on this message, are both great dogs. A Boxer/Cattle Dog-mix, Doogie (above right) spent the first three years of his life on the end of a chain. But he loves people so much that he'd rather be petted than eat! He walks nicely on a leash, loves to swim, and willingly shares his rawhide chews. Beauty (above left) is a German shepherd/Boxer-mix, who gives kisses and welcomes belly rubs. She's also good on a leash, and loves to play with toys, balls and other dogs.
