Cat Care Society is full up right now for homeless cats; but, I know they make special provisions for life-time care and long-term illness.  I suggest you call Abbi to inquire if they would take care of the cats for a 6-month deployment, particularly if the guardian will pay all expenses, and not adopt the cats out, but hold them.  Just a thought.
