Would you like to learn how the Meals For
Health participants benefited wildly by adopting
Dr. McDougall's starch-based vegan diet?

The Meals For Health party this past Sunday
in Beverly Hills was an amazing evening in
every way!

The people, the food, the drinks, the talks --
the dancing until the cops shut us down!
(seriously!)

But the high point of the evening, everyone
agreed, was when a half dozen people from
the food bank stood up before the nearly 200
in the audience, and told their stories.

Watch this video, and be inspired:

Dear Ann,

We are thrilled to announce that today, after bills that would have criminalized the filming of cruelty to animals on factory farms died in Florida and Minnesota, similar bills in Iowa (H.F. 589) and New York (S. 5172) have also officially died despite aggressive attempts by the meat industry to push them through! This news comes after months of PETA cross-country campaigning against the bills. Among other actions taken, Republican strategist Mary Matalin personally appealed on PETA's behalf to every Republican representative in Iowa where the GOP-backed bill was closest to passing; Iowa native Cloris Leachman called on legislators in her home state to reject the bill, which made Iowa look like it had something to hide; PETA visited each state capital and met with legislators; and thousands of PETA members and supporters expressed their outrage against the bills. This is a victory for animals and will protect undercover investigative work in these states that is crucial to exposing cruelty.

These pieces of legislation were desperate attempts by agriculture-industry giants to prevent consumers from learning the truth about how animals on factory farms suffer and die. Citizens' right to document cruelty to animals—wherever it occurs—is crucial to helping local, state, and federal officials enforce anti-cruelty and other animal-protection laws. With the failure of these bills, we can continue to conduct undercover investigations, such as our 2008 investigation of an Iowa Hormel supplier, which found that workers were beating and sexually abusing pigs, to uncover cruelty and ensure that the abusers are held accountable.

Thank you again for your help in making this possible.

Sincerely,

Dan Mathews

PetPals, please help find this poor little dumped cat a good home!  Please forward.  Thanks, Jannis
This is a cat that some apartment neighbors do not want anymore and they put it out on it's own, so I took it in. Nice cat, not sure of gender, but may not like dogs. Free to a good home. Probably a year old.  Not sure if it has had any vet services.

I think it would still be  beneficial to still hear from upset and concerned citizens?
Seems like it would only help and let the DA's office know we are all watching how this unfolds.

The Denver DA is currently "considering" whether to file criminal
charges against Mathew Weatherspoon, who stabbed his 6 month old puppy
6 times because she nipped him (more info below if you're not familiar
with the story).

Please sign this petition to demonstrate to the DA how imperative it
is to not allow this disgusting treatment of an innocent puppy to go
unpunished.

Matthew Davonn Weatherspoon stabbed his 6-month old bulldog puppy,
Diamond, in the face 6 times. Davonn said he became angry because the
puppy nipped him. Weatherspoon, who had no visible bite marks, then
threw the puppy outside because she was bleeding in the apartment. The
puppy was found wandering near the building and was immediately taken
to Alameda East Veterinary Hospital where she underwent surgery and is
now recovering. Staff say 'she is an absolute doll' and this is one of
the saddest abuse cases they've ever seen.

Bear really needs a rescue. Casper Metro is full and this boy is a really good dog that needs a second chance!!!  If you can help him please email Cathy Corbin at Rescue Rangers ccorbin@WPDN.net  Transport available. PLEASE CROSS POST

This is #65816, Bear, a surrender who is booked in as a border collie mix.  He is a surrender because "too hyper with my children, digs".  He is neutered and housebroken, and is marked as being compatible with men and women.   His age is abut 1.5 years, and surrendering party had him 1 year.  He is use to car rides, leashes, living inside, living outside, and being alone inside. He is marked as being fenced, leashed/tied, and kenneled.  He is also marked as a one person pet, playful, destructive, tears furniture, dumps trash, bark/howls, roams, chews things, digs, jumps on people, urinates submissively, and occasionally fights with other dogs.  He likes walks, jogs, and fetch.  He has rabies, distemper, bordetella, parvo vaccinations – All Creatures Vet Clinic.  At the bottom of his sheet, surrendering party wrote "digs out under fences, not friendly toward all dogs".

CATHY'S PERSONAL OBSERVATION

We found this boy to very gentle, sweet, calm, quiet, and did not attempt to fight with any other of the dogs today, nor did he urinate submissively.  He makes good, non-threatening eye contact, and has soft brown eyes which have a very sad look to them.  His fur is relatively thick and would be beautiful if he were brushed.  He is easy to leash, and walks well on leash.  He met 3 men and 2 women today and liked all of us.  He also met several other dogs and liked all of them.  He is approximately 21-23" tall, and his weight is estimated at about 55-65#.

Erica, could you pass along again?  I am in need of placing this boy.  Foster is getting uptight and I can't take him.
Any suggestions?  Would Donna Marino be able to help with him? He is very lonesome and wants company, she has animals.  He is a real lover boy.  I guess I am getting desperate.  He shows no signs of being sick and he is young and likes playing with his toys.  I hate to euthanize him.  I guess I am at my last cry for help on this one.  thanks Dena

I have a cat that showed up in my yard among my other ferals.  I thought he was feral.  He was not.  I neutered him and gave him shots and found him a home.  The home we found him turned out to be not up to our expectations and he gave the cat back about a month ago.  We found someone to foster him, however, he was using the box frequently and she felt he should go get checked out.  He did test positive for the start of kidney disease.  I was wondering if anyone out there could take him or know of someone else that may want to adopt him.  He is on prescription food only, no other treatment is necessary right now.  I am at a loss as to where I can go with him.  He is in need of love and attention, and maybe someone who has other pets or kids he may be happiest with.  He could live 6 mos or live to be 15 years old.  The vet said she thought he was about six.  So he is young and strong.  Requires a clean box.  He is very lovey and just wants someone to pay attention to him.

If you know of anyone or if you can take him in, could you let me know please?  He is a good boy and behaves.  Doesn't scratch (except his scratch pad) and doesn't jump up on things.  Thanks Dena

Thanks.

HELP GO VEGAN RADIO STAY ON THE AIR!
Hi Alfredo,
I want to share something with you. I've joined this campaign as a champion, to help GoVeganRadio reach their goal quicker.
GoVeganRAdio is the only voice animals have on the radio and we need your help to keep it on the air!
GoVeganRadio needs to raise money to pay for air time. If we don't reach our goal GoVeganRadio, the voice for the animals will be lost forever!
Please don't let this happen.
A small donation can make a huge difference to this cause. Combining a lot of modest donations will produce the same effect as a few large sponsorships.
As a 501(c) 3, your contribution is tax-deductible and your company may even match your gift. It's worth asking them. Sharing this message with friends, same as I'm doing now is another way to effectively multiply your gift.
Please help me in reaching my goal, and help this worthy cause for animals. You are making a difference.
Thank you,
Alfredo

Dear Donna,

PETA is asking its members and supporters to boycott the new Kevin James film, Zookeeper, which will be released on July 6. The film features a number of captive wild animals, including an elephant, a lion, a monkey, and a giraffe, among many other species. PETA finds the use of all wild animals in film and television objectionable, but this movie is even more egregious because of the controversial death of a giraffe during the production of the film and the use of an elephant named Tai, who was provided by the company Have Trunk Will Travel (HTWT). In May, Animal Defenders International released undercover video footage that shows trainers at HTWT as they abuse Tai and other elephants with bullhooks and electric prods.

Sadly, many wild animals used for entertainment suffer greatly at the hands of their trainers. The animals are deprived of everything that is natural and important to them, such as adequate space, appropriate companionship, and proper exercise. Click here to read about the abusive training exercises that these animals endure on a regular basis.

Please share this information with your friends, family members, and coworkers, and ask them to join you in boycotting Zookeeper.

Thank you for everything that you do to help animals.

Sincerely,

Julia Gallucci, M.S.

Deanna Raeke
Dog Lover & Proud Pet Parent

I am passionate when it comes to my canine companions as well as dogs everywhere. It is my mission to raise awareness of any issues that affect them, from their health, food and nutrition and training to their welfare. Canine advocacy is something that everyone who cares about dogs needs to be aware of and we all need to share that and raise our voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

For the Love of the Dog is my small effort to do that.
Please, won't you help me!
