Posted: 21 Jun 2010 12:21 PM PDT It's that time again. Purina Pro Plan® is hosting its "Rally to Rescue®" campaign to save rescue dogs. What better purpose could there be in life? Well, okay...there are lots of charity events and campaigns we'd all like to contribute to - but I'm especially fond of this one because it involves rescuing dogs. This year they have a Facebook page and I can see they need more fans. Hop over and click that "like" button for me. No, not for me...for the dogs. All the dogs that need this program. Here's what it's about, in a nutshell: "Rally to Rescue® recognizes the importance of the work pet rescuers do to help protect homeless pets, and we are committed to doing our part to help in this mission. Rally to Rescue helps rescue organizations across the country give rescued pets the nutrtition and care they need and the loving homes they deserve." W00t!!!! As a writer on this blog, which is sponsored by Purina, I am privvy to some "insider" info so I can share these stories...ok, you can get all the stories on the Rally to Rescue site, I'm not special! Still, here are some great stories I wanted to share: Buddy (submitted by Border Collies In Need, Inc.) ... Found severely mauled when he was used as bait for competitive dog fighting, Buddy is now thriving! In fact, the gratefulness of this once mistreated Border Collie has inspired others to realize that no matter what life hands you, a good heart will always overcome the bad. [Much love to Buddy and his new family.] Kobe (submitted by Dalmatian Rescue North Texas) ... Hit by a car, stranded, starving and left to fend for themselves on the side ohe road, a Dalmatian mother and her pup are now strong on their road to recovery, and hopeful about finding a forever home. [can you help? Dalmatians are wonderful dogs!] Leopold (submitted by Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue) ... After being rescued from a cold, lonely shelter, an injured yet hopeful Weimaraner had to give a little in order to gain a lot. An injury forced veterinarians to amputate his leg, but he now has a loving family and a future -- thanks to many strangers who helped along the way. And the story of JoJo... a pit bull...misunderstood and mistreated. This story is a MUST read! Do not pass it up!!! JoJo, in all her glory, is now a therapy dog... after being so mistreated and misunderstood, by the stupidty in human form. DENVER are you listening?!? These, and many other stories, are on display at the Rally to Rescue site and Facebook page. Hop over, vote..vote...vote. You may even contact my contact if you want to interview a local pet organization involved with this campaign. Email me and I'll connect you. |
