Posted: 15 Jun 2010 07:47 AM PDT

We all love giving our dogs treats. But, how often do we think about those treats?

What constitutes a "good" treat? A "healthy" treat? Pizza? (maybe, in limited amounts) Dog bones? Maybe...if you read the label carefully. That's key - reading the label. In this Scratchings & Sniffings Out Loud podcast with Dr. Grace and Dr. Larry, we learn more about healthy dog treats.

10 reasons Dogs are Better Than Cats

1. Dogs are more fun. You can play with a dog in the back yard and even teach them Incredible Dog tricks.

2. Dogs want nothing more than to please you - day after day. Cats...expect the opposite!

3. Dogs sleep with one ear on the alert - to guard their most precious possession: you!

4. Dogs eat anything. This is not always good, but...in a pinch, when out of dog food - you can always find someting in the cupboard to tie the pooch over until you get to the store.

5. Dogs do their duty out doors. No litter to clean up and replace.

6. Dogs come when they are called (if trained properly). Cats sometimes come when they hear you call, but it's only because they think you are going to feed them.Carmel

7. Dogs do not bring back live mice or other critters, if they happen to get out on their own.

8. Dogs are faithful. A dog loves you the most, and while he will slobber all over anyone close enough to pet him, his heart still belongs to you.

9. Dogs accept other creatures in the house more readily than cats. They don't hiss at the other creatures, or bite or wail or chase...they wait patiently for direction.

10. And the best reason dogs are better than cats is: dogs love you no matter what. Even if you feed them late once in awhile.
