Be the Change along with Sparkle the Cat Posted: 13 May 2010 08:53 AM PDT BlogPaws West is in development. We'll be bringing it to Denver in September and Tom and I are tres' excited! The Wabby is reserving comment. Not sure we'll even bring her to the event - she's such a snob and all. Anyway, BlogPaws is about more than bringing the pet community together to meet each other and the brands they buy every day. It's also about change. We began the Be the Change Challenge at our Columbus event and it's taken on a life of its own, much to our delight. To understand Be the Change, I want to quote from Sparkle the Cat, and a post she created over at Dogtime. "To 'Be the Change' means more than just donating money to a rescue organization. It's more than just volunteering. Of course, donating and volunteering are important and you should do them. But let me tell you a story about something that happened in my human's life a few years ago. It was a little incident -- and it wasn't. "It was Memorial Day. She forgets the exact year -- 2005, maybe? She and her boyfriend were at somebody's pool and barbeque party. She wasn't having a great time, even though she got dressed up in her coolest clothes. In fact, she was kinda bored. Then the host's cousin showed up and said, 'There's a cat wandering around. It looks like it's hurt pretty bad." And so...hop over to the actual post and read the rest. It's must read today kind of story about being the change. Sparke's Mom spoke at BlogPaws and is a fab writer. We recommend her book: Dear Sparkle - Advice from One Cat to Another. What kinds of activities or actions do you suggest for Be the Change? We are eager to hear stories about how pet parents and anipals are helping pay it forward by being the change in their own backyard. |
