Rescue Stories: New Lives

Posted: 10 Feb 2010 07:14 AM PST

Yvonne Everyone should know by now that I'm working hard on a pet blogger conference, BlogPaws, with Caroline Golon of Romeo the Cat. And, that we're all about rescues, shelters, and giving back to the pet community.

The other day I received a very interesting email from Joanne Wannan about a book she wrote called NEW LIVES: Stories of Rescued Dogs Helping, Healing and Giving Hope. I don't have the book but it's about 18 dogs who were shelter rescues and how they are performing miracles in animal therapy, today. Joanne mentions that, "It's the small local or shelters and organizations that are really struggling right now." (her bolding)

Joanne wanted me to know about her experiences with shelters - and what she learned while writing this book. She learned how amazing animal shelters and organizations are, and how they are truly making a difference, in the lives of the rescued animals and the lives of the people who rescue the animals and the people who adopt them.

Because of all of that, Joanne has created a contest where YOU can tell your shelter story, and win prizes. She writes, "Not only that, but 2 lucky winners will each have 15% of the profits from the sale ofNEW-LIVES-Joanne-Wannan NEW LIVES donated to the shelter or rescue of their choice."

Joanne is just the kind of gal I'd like to get to know better. Her blog of Inspiring Rescue Stories is worth your time. I hope I've convinced her to attend BlogPaws, and meet all of the great pet people who will be there - alongside the brands that value what we pet bloggers bring to the picture. She'll be in great company with many other pet people who want to help shelters and rescues do their work - and save more pets from euthanasia.

Visit Joanne's site, buy her book, engage with her contest. Let's support the folks who are supporting shelters. Wabby and Romeo give this two paws up!

(p.s. those considering the BlogPaws conference: you get to meet Dr. Larry in person! He's a keynote speaker!)
