Home is Where the Boxes Are

The-wabby-watches You may have noticed more posts from the Good Dr. Larry, than me, lately. That's because this cross-country trip has been more time-consuming (and grueling) than expected. Luckily, Dr. Larry writes really great content, so I know he's taken good care of you.

We're back up and running, tho. Here in our new home, in Frederick (post office says Longmont, go figure) CO. The house is beautiful - but so different than our last home, it will take a bit of getting used to. Of course, like anyone who moves an entire household, and two offices, we're surrounded by boxes. For the first four days and nights, we slept on the floor. Our furniture did not arrive with us...all we had were our computers, and the Wabby.

Speaking of the Wabby - she weathered this move like a trooper. I was surprised at her calmness. She slept in her carrier, between us in the U-haul, then...when we arrived, she wandered around the new house and inspected it from top to bottom, choosing her favorite places to hide (in the bedroom closets, which are all carpeted).

Yesterday, the daughter and her 'other' family came to help us unload our second POD, full of books andNew-twiggy-at-home bookcases...all the really heavy stuff. Chloe, said daughter, brought her dog, Twiggy (who has graced this blog many times with stories), with her. Amazingly, Twiggy was more afraid of Wabby than Wabby of her. Wabby gave her the, "Oh, another dog," look and didn't hiss or move or make any disturbing actions. I really thought she'd freak out.

Twiggy, on the other hand, not being around cats much, was a bit worried about this little furry creature that wouldn't play with her. Mind you, Twiggy - a full-grown Greyhound - towers over the Wabby and could easily win a scuffle, if one were to occur. However, the Wabby was not interested in Twiggy, and only wanted dinner. She stood her ground when Twiggy did the front-squat ("wanna play?") and finally meandered off, tail in the air. Much as a good cat should, of course.

We will see how this relationship develops. There is no doubt Twiggy will be a regular guest here. And, we will be watching to see exactly how Wabby deals with having a dog around, again. In preparation for our next dog, of course! (also, watch for more pics and videos of the Wabby and Twiggy in action)
