Top 10 Togetherful Cities in America

CarmiePortraitSmall Beneful®, a Purina brand - just launched a new endeavor that looks like it's not only fun, but an attempt to bring some interactive tools to the table. You'll remember the interview with the Beneful folks last year, so this is more good news from a brand that is reaching out to pet owners on the net.

I don't know how many of you are on Twitter (my twitter account for this blog is @mypetblog), and I don't know how many have blogs of their own - although I do know that pet people are a very big part of the social media world, today, but being social is the 'in' thing - and pet parents are among the most connected people on the net (according to moi, anyway). The new site Beneful launched recently is called WagWorld™...for life's Everyday Adventures with your Dog™.

According to the press release, here's what the folks at Beneful discovered...which may have led to the creation of this new, interactive, online site:

  • 95% of dog owners agree that spending time with their dog lifts their spiritsWagWorld

  • 92% say their dog helps them enjoy life's simple pleasures

  • 48% say they could not live without their dog on a daily basis (only 48% - I'm suspect of that number; maybe the other 54% were lying)

So, it seems we really like our dogs. No, duh! (no disrespect to Beneful - it's good that they did the survey and that they're on top of helping us celebrate "the joyful life" with our dogs, but I don't have to tell you how much we love our dogs, do I?).

What I really like about this new venture, especially since I'm in moving mode (oh good grief, don't get me started on that!)...is that the new site is in search of the Top 10 Togetherful Cities in America. In other words, dog-friendly locations where dog owners and their dogs can enjoy daily adventures together. In fact, moving to CO has me excited because the area we're moving to is very dog friendly. I know this because my daughter lives there and she takes her dog just about everywhere with her.

How about your hometown? Is it dog-friendly? Hop over to WagWorld and join the fun. The Top10 cities (those with the most activity on the site) between July 27th through September 27th will make the list and be announced in October.

Oh, guess what - "women," the Press Release reveals, "are nearly twice as likely as men to say they spend the majority of their day with their dog!" Whoohooo! Let's hear it for the gals!
