Cat Lovers Meow: Get the Message Out!

Posted: 06 May 2009 07:49 AM PDT

Baby-with-cat Have to share the Catalyst Council organization. We know, from previous posts here and from newsletters and news reports, that the cat is the favored pet in America. (I expect you all know about Nora, the piano playing cat? So adorable!) And, cats are so playfully delightful, they make great videos on YouTube!

At the Catalyst site, they have a great comment cloud that says cats are: athletic, funny, sophisticated, intriguing, fun, entertaining...and lots more. I have to totally agree! (even tho my little Wabby is not always fun or entertaining... she is cuddly and warm and loving - she always gives my nose a lick after I pet her; guess that's a thank you!)

They also have a link to the Top 10 Cat-Friendly cities in the U.S. Nice to know....even if my city isn't on the list. I see Denver there... so, if we ever move to live near my oldest daughter, we'll be near Denver.

I hope you'll visit the Catalyst site and learn more about how this organization is working "to raise the stature of America's number one companion...by announcing the CATalyst 2009 Top Cat-Friendly Cities." I love their About page that says, "Our vision is to raise the level of care and welfare of cats by cat owners - one that any ownerPatch1-ninelivesfoundation will embrace through the human-animal bond and can achieve - supported by the highest quality veterinary care, preventative medicine, and cat specific products."

I want to also give a call-out to Jill Asher, Silicon Valley Moms blogger, who just started a great initiative to rescue cats and kittens and find them homes. It's called Nine Lives Foundation and the pic here is from her site. Isn't he the cat's meow? Met her on Twitter and plan on interviewing her, here. Visit her "how to help" page and consider a donation. And, stay tuned for that interview.

Let's hear it for America's Number One Companion: the cat!
